Open WebUI 0.12 adds versioned Skills and encrypted collaboration
Open WebUI 0.12 brought versioned Skills, long-tool-chain compaction and hybrid retrieval into stable. Version 0.12.3 adds temporary end-to-end encrypted chat, lighter Redis streaming, workspace search and narrower Google Drive authorization, while fixing OAuth MCP and tool-server recovery. Preselected Skills now inject full instructions on every turn, which can materially increase prompt size.
Availability: stable GitHub release and public PyPI 0.12.0 artifacts; Tool Search remains experimental
What this means for you
For self-hosted teams, 0.12.3 changes collaboration privacy, Redis load and Skill token cost at once. Encrypted chat still requires HTTPS, WebSockets and disabled server-side WebSocket logging, so validate it in staging first.
