LightOn published ColGrep-Agent weights, code, integrations and author-run evaluations.
ColGrep-Agent opens a local model for repository search
LightOn released ColGrep-Agent, an Apache-2.0 local model and toolchain for searching repositories before a coding agent edits them. The model card reports five-seed localization tests on 300 instances per benchmark and an author study across 52 questions in 13 repositories. Public weights, code and integrations are available, but downstream patch success, total latency and compute have not been independently established.
Availability: Apache-2.0 weights and code; integrations documented for Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode
What this means for you
For coding-agent teams, a small local search specialist can reduce the source code sent to a frontier model and make repository context selection inspectable. Better file localization does not guarantee a correct patch, so evaluate end-to-end success and total resource cost rather than token savings alone.
