IBM releases Granite Switch 4.1 with composable adapters
IBM updates Granite Switch adapters without changing the base model
2026-10-16Verified announcementTRIAL
Granite Switch 4.1.1 keeps the Granite 4.1 base model unchanged and updates its adapters. The speech adapter now supports ten languages with native punctuation and capitalization, and the Decision adapter reports a higher publisher-run Jev Decision Index. The promised Adapter SDK is still not available.
What this means for you
For teams running several narrow AI services, composable adapters may reduce duplicated model memory and endpoint sprawl. The operational benefit and quality tradeoffs need measurement on real mixed workloads.
Evidence & related material
The IBM/Hugging Face post confirms an unchanged base model, ten-language ASR, an updated Decision adapter and a still-pending Adapter SDK.
Subsequent changes
Granite Switch 4.1.1 uses backward-compatible adapters to extend ASR to ten languages.
