GitHub makes connected Copilot cloud sessions generally available

GitHub made its connected Copilot cloud experience generally available on paid Copilot plans, with rollout starting October 28. A session can move across web, mobile, CLI, VS Code, Slack and Teams while running in resumable GitHub-managed sandboxes. Cloud sandbox billing starts in November 2026 and draws from a shared dollar-based Actions compute entitlement.

Availability: generally available on paid Copilot plans; rolling out from 2026-10-28

What this means for you

For coding-agent teams, session portability and resumable sandboxes change where state, credentials and compute budgets live. Enterprise permission policies and MCP allowlists carry over, but isolation, snapshot retention and real billing still need tenant-specific testing.
