Google opens SynthID Detector globally in English

Google updated SynthID Detector access from a limited rollout to global English availability. Anyone can upload supported image, video or audio files to check for SynthID watermarks from Google and named partners including OpenAI, NVIDIA, Kakao and Apple. The tool detects participating watermarks, not arbitrary AI-generated content.

What this means for you

For provenance workflows, broader access makes watermark checks operationally usable. It does not replace broader forensic review, and Google provides no independent false-positive, recall or edit-robustness evidence in this update.
